Do we need scrap metal business really?

Like any other business, sale of scrap metal is used by many business persons to eke a living. It becomes more attractive since most of the wares of the trade consists of metal and plastic waste which you turn into money effortlessly. This could explain the reason why children are also involved in it.

However, it has turned into a pain among many homes and to the community in general. The reason being
that, in an effort to make money at whatever cost, some people have gone to the extent of stealing new home appliances, including utensils, jikos, wheelbarrows and anything metallic, destroy it and rush it to the scrap metal buyer.
But its the turn things have taken that is really worrying.

Alcoholic youths have developed a habit of vandalizing anything and everything metallic. These includes
gates, water pipes, goal posts, roadside lamps, road barriers etc.
But what is extremely surprising is the fact that, these people have a ready market from among local scrap metal dealers.
Who is this that don’t know a roadside lamp stand whether cut into pieces or knocked into scrap?. Cant see a wheelbarrow was new but has been bludgeoned into scrap?
Do such a person deserve to be operating such a business really?
