Where is Karuri Ward?
Karuri Ward is an area within Kiambaa Sub-county of Kiambu County in Kenya.Karuri Ward is one of five wards that make up the Kiambaa Sub-county or constituency. The others are Kihara Ward, Muchatha Ward, Ndenderu Ward and Cianda Ward. Karuri is the most populous of the 5 with a population of 38,000 residents.
Its name was derived from the name of a famous elder from Murang’a County called Karuri wa Gakure who lived in the 18th century. It is said that, men of his time used to pass through this area from their home in the highlands of Mt. Kenya on their way to Masai land to purchase livestock around 1866 - 1890. He had marked a place where they used to stop over on their long journey and they eventually made it a meeting point where the farming traders would come from the east with their farm produce and meet the pastrolists from the west where they would exchange their produce with livestock in barter trade. The place was named after him. Karuri is only 15km from the capital city Nairobi.
Karuri is a place you will love to live.

Karuri Ward is a nice place. Swarming with lots of lovely people. You will enjoy every moment you are within its boundaries. But you wont realize this until you have spent some time in the place. Outside there, you will get conflicting and negative sentiments about Karuri. But this emanates from a period in the past when some bad boys had emerged to ruin our image. They had made the place really insecure with the help of criminals from Nairobi and surrounding towns. Cases of muggings, robbery and even murder were taking place every too often that the area made headlines in major National newspapers. But that is all gone now. The groups have disappeared after government cracked down on them. Though peace have returned the past insecurity reports will take time to fade from outsiders memories.
Where to Shop
Despite the usual problems that dog every other area in our country, including high rates of youth unemployment, there is generally a good environment of peace and order. Small businesses flourish through out its many shopping centers and within the villages. Looks like you had a great start. I am a researcher in political communication. I dug this blog out while researching on Kiambu politics and can assure you this blog not only stands out but has potential to engage constituents and dialog with them. Just add the spike to trigger discussions and you will have a captive audience. Great work!
